Tomas Malec has signed a $400 000 per year, 2 year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes. Detailed terms of the deal were not announced.

A native of Slovakia, Tomas Malec was originally drafted to the NHL by the Florida Panthers in the 3rd round of the 2001 entry draft. He has not yet played at NHL level. The 23 year old defenseman is looking forward for the start of the season.

He has appeared in 50 NHL games during his career, notching 0 goals and adding 0 assists along with 42 penalty minutes. The 23 year old left wing is getting ready for the upcoming season.
